WORLD AIDS:  UPDATE

The 2007 theme of World AIDS Day is "Stop AIDS:  Keep the Promise."  We have a promise to keep to those whom we loved that they wil not be forgotten.  We also have ap romise to keep to the world's peoples living with HIV/AIDS they they also are not forgotten in their struggle to live!

It is estimated by UNAIDS that as many as 33 million people of the world are living with HIV/AIDS. Some 2.5 million of these are children.  Unlike the 1980s, when AIDS was thought of as "the gay disease," the center of the struggle is in the developing world.  Some 95% of those living with HIV/AIDS are in developing nations.

For the world's poorest people, every day is a struggle to survive.  Without the compassionate response of wealthier people, the additional struggle against AIDS is impossible.
